In 1886, the Lakeside & Marblehead Railroad was built to serve the burgeoning lime industry of Marblehead and the seasonal passenger traffic to Lakeside. It was soon taken over by the Kelley Island Lime & Transport Company and consolidated into one of the largest limestone production facilities in the world. The Lakeside & Marblehead Railroad closed in 1964 and was scrapped in 1997, but this book brings nearly every aspect back to life and preserves it for posterity.
